I was induced on Friday 1/5/07 at 4 pm. They started by putting a pill like thing next to my cervix to ripen it...well, it took off from there. About an hour later I was having contractions, not bad ones but I could feel them. As the day and night came they kept getting stronger...the first 5cm was the longest...let me tell you. When the doctor came in (for about the 5th time that day) I asked what I can have for pain since the epidural couldn't be done yet, that's when they gave me morphine. I also stopped eating food at 4 pm Friday. The reason I didn't get an epidural is because I take Heparin (a blood thinner) and if they do it too soon I could bleed in my spine and become paralyzed. They did give me a shot to reverse the blood thinner but my blood didn't take to it very good. On Saturday they broke my water and inserted an internal contraction and fetal heartbeat monitor. Uncomfortable....Then the contractions were so bad, so painful, I could hardly breathe, having the morphine helped a little, I also had phenergan because the morphine was making me sick, so I was doubled knocked out. I was saying stuff I didn't know I said. The nurse's shift changed at 7:30pm, and I was hoping I would have the same nurse as the night before....and I did!!! I was 6cm by 7pm on Saturday 1/6/07; they said we still had time to see if I could get the epidural. By 8pm I looked at my mom and said "I think I need to push!"...I was so terrified to tell the nurse, but I did, and she proceeded to check me. I was 10cm by 8pm...!!!! She had me push two times to bring her head down then she ran and called the team of doctors, they came in got dressed, while I was holding my legs together because it felt like she was going to come out. They proceeded to tell me that on the contraction I need to push. One went by and they were like you need to push, I said let me rest. So the next one came and I thought to myself if I don't get her out with this one I will be here all night. So, I grabbed on to my moms and Buck's (my husband) hands, while the nurses held my legs, and pushed so hard, I felt her almost out, so I took a breath and kept pushing, not even a full push and she came right out. I felt it all, her head, her shoulders, everything. It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. I didn't tear, rip, nor did they have to cut me. They checked her out. She didn't get to be put on my belly when she came out. The NICU team wanted to check her because of the morphine I was on; when they were all done they brought her to me. It was my first baby, and my last. I wouldn't have changed it for the world. I was blessed to have all 4 family members in the room while I had her. My brother took pics. My step-dad watched the baby get cleaned off. My grandma was there, and of course my Mom and Husband, whom I wouldn't have gotten through this if it weren't for them. Now were home safe, and I hold her and think wow, the doctors told me this wasn't going to be possible for me. I went against what they told me, and got a perfect little girl. This is the ONLY baby I will be having, so she really is my Miracle Baby!!!
